I admit it. I’m a sucker for Tron. From my childhood it was every kid’s fantasy to live in a videogame and Tron was the ultimate. Getting to race faster than light, err lightcycles and throw überly charged frisbees at bad guys.

So I like most people of my generation were excited and apprehensive about an announced sequel. However the trailer seems to want to make us eat our words. Here it is… it’s looks immense and brings back childhood memories aplenty.

On a techy and web related note, i’m liking the viral campaign for the film as well. The whole “Flynn Lives!” idea is a good one and adds a layer of mystery as well.

I’m casting my mind back to New Years Eve for this post. There are 8/9 of us at my brothers and his girlfriends house for a party and the Rock Band is in session.

Apart from a token Bon Jovi track, there weren’t many songs that inspired a massive group singalong. Except one.

You put Rock Band in a room full of geeks with a full track list and there’s one song that everyone is turning to. “Still Alive”, The theme from the ending of Valve’s dimension bending masterpiece “Portal”, had us all crooning with class and we finished with huge smiles on our faces.

Written by Jonathan Coulton and a favourite amongst gamers everywhere, it’s lyrics are sublime and the music is crafted by angels themselves.

Here’s Jonathan and Felicia Day (her of Buffy fame), singing along at the PAX expo in 2008. God bless them and New Years can’t come soon enough for an encore.

So i’ve decided to change my blog. It’s going to be more personal and hopefully appeal to a wider audience. So it’s basically a place for my thoughts, my favourite things, my friends and hopefully some new friends as well. I’m going to be doing some photography, some geeky updates, some podcasts and all kinds of lovely, lovely things.
